IBEW TG-ME Message

Brothers and Sisters,

Late this afternoon the Company notified the Union they would be sending an official declaration of surplus. The surplus is for 7 TG-ME employees with an off payroll date of 8/24/2023. Below is the information from the notification letter. 

 At this time, it is anticipated that such surplus conditions may result in the lay-off of seven (7) employees. The job title impacted by this surplus is as follows:
                                                                                      Outside Combination Technician (4)
                                                                                                  o Fryeburg, Maine (1)
                                                                                                  o Island Falls, Maine (1)
                                                                                                  o Raymond, Maine (1)
                                                                                                  o Winthrop, Maine (1)
                                                                                      Technician Data Business (1)
                                                                                                  o Standish, Maine (1)
                                                                                      Inside Combination Technician (2)
                                                                                                  o Standish, Maine (1)
                                                                                                  o South China, Maine (1)

                                                  Impacted employees will complete their final day of employment August 24, 2023.

We have a meeting scheduled with the Company for this Thursday, July 27th at 1pm to discuss details. Per Article 17 of the CBA they will offer any volunteers the opportunity to separate from the business and receive a week’s pay for every completed year of service. This language does not have a cap of the amount of weeks an employee is entitled to. Our language also states they must identify any contractors doing work that an employee is capable of doing. We were told the Company plans to job-complete all contractors doing our work. Please let us know if you know of any contractors working in your area.  

At this time we do not have any other information. We will update you after our meeting on Thursday.
